Green Building Remodeling and Renovations
“Green building” is one of today’s buzzwords, and Blue Ribbon Residential Construction is more sensitive than most remodelers to any project’s impact on the environment. On the bright side, the construction industry as a whole has been moving toward conservation and recycling for years. Remodeling is green by nature, in that we are renewing existing spaces in lieu of clearing land and building anew. But Blue Ribbon takes it a step farther.
Blue Ribbon Stands Out as a Green Remodeler
Blue Ribbon stands out from the run-of-the-mill remodeler, who does not recycle construction debris or use green-certified products. We take the debris generated by our projects to a recycling center instead of dumping it in a landfill. The recycling center we use separates the wood, metal and sheetrock for reprocessing. Wood gets chipped up, metal gets re-melted and re-used, and the sheetrock is ground up for use as a soil conditioner.
Among the recycled or green building products we use are fiberboard products made of wood chips and sawdust, OSB panels made of chips from small trees that are unsuitable for dimensional lumber, and doors made up of short segments of lumber glued end to end for the core and then covered with a wood veneer. For outdoor projects such as patios, we can obtain recycled brick, pavers, cobblestone and other materials.
Many manufacturers strive to obtain green certification of their products. Blue Ribbon provides its clients a wide range of choices, allowing the homeowner to dictate to what extent these certified products are used in a project. You as the homeowner get to decide how “green” you want to be.
